Appearance

Highlighted with brick wall, this place is just 4 minutes on foot from Shibuya Station (Keio Inokashira Line) – West Exit.
It isn’t that hard to find though it does not have an English name so foreigners can read, you’ll see their limited Menu display.

Ambiance

This curry shop is more spacious compared to some of the typical ones here in Japan though the place is a bit quaint as it has been up and running since 1951. There are a total of 38 seats available to acommodate customers. Eating alone, with friends, with a date, or with families is possible in this restaurant.

Recommended Menu

The curry presentation is unique because of it’s mounded rice and lake-like curry sauce. Well, this place is considered as the aficionado of Japanese curry ‘n’ rice.

People’s Review

Rainy days like this make me want to stay in and eat curry. So here's a pic of my favorite "Mt Everest" curry from Murugi in Dogenzaka Tokyo. They slow cook their curry to perfection for 7 days! Cheese and egg are optional, but a must for me. I need to go back. ☔️🍛#curry #murugi #tokyo

Fact 1: I haven't eaten #rice as a daily staple for 15 years. Fact 2: Travel is one of a handful of exceptions when and where I allow myself to eat rice. No surprise my first meal here after a haggard-skin-inducing early morning flight would be this #tamago-iri #curry from #Murugi. The place is definitely not as mainstream as CoCo Ichibanya (which is why it was in my to-eat list tbh), but I read its been a #Shibuya institution since the 50's. The restaurant itself is quaint but oozing with character: a four-item menu, #Dogenzaka hilltop location, brickwall facade, and, believe it ot not, Taylor Swift music. 😎 There's the expected homey and courteous service, too. The dish didn't taste like what I thought it would be as it was less sweet than the usual Jap curry, but it was perfect heat- and complexity-wise. Masarap, at sulit ang paghahanap sa kanya, kumbaga. Oh man… It has begun… Sabi na nga ba lamon lang talaga gagawin ko dito eh. 😜 #oldschool #Tokyo #travel #goodeats #japanesecuisine
